Tom O Scott started his photographic career in his '50's, and much of his work earned critical acclaim quickly. In childhood, he was surrounded by Chinese and Japanese wood blocks, German Expressionism, and American abstract art. Today, there are traces of this artistic tradition in all of his work. At the seashore, Scott is more likely to find an image one foot square left in the sand than a broad vista. His art reflects his love of intricacy and pattern in the world immediately around him.
By day, he is a software engineer for a local credit union. During his free time, you are most likely to find him on the beach, searching for patterns left by the receding tides. While he photographs many subjects, his real love is sand. In fact, many of his photographic friends call him the "Sandman."
